It was actually my parents house that was broken into (I'm staying here while I'm finishing up school) so I'll probably just stick it out here tonight. I'm not going into work tomorrow though. I'm supposed to be finishing up an assignment but that's clearly not happening so I need the day to detox and get my work done.

It looks like there's been a string of break ins in our neighbourhood recently. In most cases the front door was pushed in but ours wasn't.

We have a CSI-type person here right now dusting for finger prints. I kind of wish Horatio Cane was here to take off his sunglasses.

Star - I really don't think he would do anything like this... especially given the recent break ins it looks like we were just next on the list.

That's a relief that you don't think it is the ex. I just wanted to make sure he didn't go psycho after the breakup... the timing is just a little too close together!

The first thing my mom said to me was "... Mike wouldn't do this would he?". It definitely went through all of our minds though because of the timing.

Mom just realized all of our American cash is missing.... only about $100 though. It's a good thing I didn't stock up for our shopping trip next month.

I definitely do. Good news though... insurance is going to cover the replacement cost of everything stolen which means I get all the money I paid for the laptop 3-4 years ago back. Not so bad for the piece of crap that it was.

Well that is good news!

Paying for the replacement option on your homeowners or renters insurance is so worth it.

When you are robbed you feel so violated. They came in, took my pillow case off my pillow and then filled it with whatever they could cram in it.

I was lucky because I had a housekeeper at that time I didn't trust so all my good jewelry was in by bank box. Sad things are the silly things they take which aren't worth any money but are sentimental.

I had to throw away that set of sheets. That missing pillow case reminded me each time I made the bed. My insurance lady told me to put the set of sheet in the list of what they took. I felt bad about that at first but then I realized "Where the heck was I going to find another 1500 count blue sateen pillow case to match that set which cost me $200 just three months prior?

I couldn't sleep on it knowing they had their hands on it. Gosh---am I a female version of Monk or what?

I had my apartment broken into 10 years ago and all they took were my hermit crabs, and prescription medication!

They took your hermit crabs??? Did they have jeweled shells or something? People will steal the strangest things. (Not trying to make light of you getting robbed... it's just strange to steal the hermit crabs.)

Star they took my 9 year old Crab named King (and his subjects as well), who i had personally handpainted his shell to look like a crown!!! he was gigantic, so I guess they thought he was cool.

maybe they wanted to get high and watch them race? freaks

Sorry about the break in!! That does suck and I know how you feel. We had our house broken in to a couple years ago. You just feel like you aren't safe anymore... It really is scary.
