Mine was so great! We watched college football all day, then handed out candy and went to our neighbors' house, where they have a newly-created man-cave in the garage. We watched the baseball
game, played poker, and then played a$$hole (a drinking game). All of that, and no costumes- perfect!
My Halloween was great simply because USC GOT BEAT! WOO! (And LSU
slaughtered Tulane, but that was inevitable).
My husband had to work on Saturday (boo!), he had to be at a convention downtown so I spent the day walking around DC and going to the National Gallery of Art. I could live in the
Dutch/Flemish gallery, I swear. Those are some beautiful paintings. Then we headed home, bought some wine, turned all the lights off and watched a scary Lifetime movie It actually was surprisingly good. It was with Emily Blunt and I was freaked out the whole movie, it
was called Wind Chill. Anyone else catch it?
Then that night I had the sweetest dream, I dreamt that LSU beat Alabama 98-96. (High scoring game, but still, we won!)
mine was so fun! i went as holly golightly (audrey hepburn's character from "breakfast at tiffany's). went out both nights all costumed up. so fun. (but cold!). my only regret is that i
didn't take that many pictures.
Like sy and tiff, the USC loss was enough to make my Halloween amazing!
Other than that, I worked at Sephora, so I got to do a ton of fun Halloween looks. And I went to parties Friday and Saturday as Lady Gaga (I wore pants, so I guess it wasn't authentic, but I
had fun with it.)
Question for the girls that are excited about the USC loss- have you seen the new rankings??? I am furious about them! They have two losses. Ohio State has two losses, BUT OSU has one more
win, and one of their losses was to a team that was ranked higher (USC), and that was a VERY close game. USC has two losses- one to a team that was unranked and one to a lower ranked team,
and that was a near blow out. Yet USC is ranked 12th and Ohio State is 16th? What? Not to mention the fact that Cincinnati is ranked 5th. That just blows my mind. But they do have zero
losses, so...
Aw Martini! Went to a haunted house then a party but cut out early so I could wake up in time to run errands before the Eagles game on Sunday. Too bad nobody reminded me it was daylights
savings and I had an extra hour to sleep in! Grr...
Don't even get me started tiff! LSU didn't even budge this week. We have our only loss to the
number one team and we're still ranked lower than another one-loss team it
makes no sense!
We had big plans to go to a friend's party and then hit some of the bars downtown but one of my eyes was really bothering me (I slept in my contacts the night before...oops) so we kind of
bailed and just walked down to a bar a few blocks away for a drink with friends and then came home.
Halloween is kind of like New Year's. It feels like there's pressure to have cool plans. I don't like it.
Went to my BF's house and carved pumpkins...drank about a gallon of red wine, ate about 2 tons of ribs and baked beans. And had brownie sundaes for dessert!
Here's my pumpkin (on the left):
It took forever...but several breaks and several glasses of wine later I finished it!
Especially when Halloween falls on a Friday or Saturday, right?
Come to think of it, I think we made plans and bailed last year, too. It's always so cold on Halloween!
The year before we were supposed to see David Sedaris but found out his performance was canceled when we got to the theater, and I think the year before that we just walked around the main
drag in our hood to check out people's costumes.
Okay, not that anyone cares, but I was just curious so I perused my personal journal and it looks like I have a long history of blowing off Halloween plans. In 2005 my friend was having a
party, and I blew it off to go buy a car. (But...that's a good reason!)
And in 2004 I wrote that I was tired and it was cold so I almost didn't go but my friends talked me into it, and it was actually super fun.
In 2003 Southern California was on fire again, no parties for me.
In 2002 we tried to go out in the Castro but couldn't find parking and gave up and went home.
But 2001! In 2001 I was in college and I dressed up and went to frat parties and it was fun.
New Year's Eve is definitely a pressure holiday, but I've been lucky to have friends who planned low-key but fun house parties the past few years. One year we did the big expensive
reservations for a place downtown thing only because we got tickets as a gift. It was actually a blast, but the problem was getting a cab home around 1:00. My memory's fuzzy but I'm pretty
sure I just pulled my shirt down and showed my boobs and finally a cab stopped. I was wasted.
I prefer New Year's to Halloween in general though. Champagne, kissing, love it!
It was very low-key. I worked from 9-5 at the library -- I dressed up as Pam Beesly!
Then I went home and watched my college football game. Boring right?
1doesn't sound boring at all, as long as you had fun. Who's Pam Beesly?
2I stayed home and baked. And watched Netflix.

6Mine was really fun....we took little man trick or treating and then went to a party at a friend's house!
Here is my little Harry Potter....
He totally scored in the candy department!
7What a great costume, snarky! I would totally dress up in that costume if I ever have to dress up again.
Sy, I know!!! Wastn't the USC loss SO SO sweet?
8How adorable Martini!
9Martini he looks too cool!
I dressed up as Edie Sedgwick (crazy makeup included) and went with a friend to her university's bar. That was terrifying.
10Martini!!! I love it! He's such a cutie pie and the perfect Harry!
Tiff, that loss made my weekend. And I even had a whole extra hour yesterday of celebrating.
11thanks, ladies!
12He loves that costume - he adores Harry Potter! He slept in this the first night we had it!!!
Martini, he's a doll!

18Yes, that is ridiculous, too! I hate the BCS. HATE it!!
*sorry for the rant
19Me too! And all these stupid undefeated Iowas and Boise State, gah, just lose a game already!

27Amazing Sarah! My pumpkin did not turn out anywhere near that good, but then again they never do. You've got some skill
28TS, that's hilarious. And so true about Halloween and NYE. I feel like it happens the same way for me too.
29Thanks ladies!
And I feel the same way TS...I haven't been a big Halloween partier since college. Mostly because I loathe dressing up in a costume.
