OK, I have two silly Sugar related pet peeves that it seems like people are doing more and more lately and I needed to post them somewhere, just to get them out and to commiserate, so I figured this was as good a place as any.
1) I HATE it when someone comments "easy" or "easy peasy" in the comments on a Guess Who, Guess What Breed, etc. OK, some of them are easy. But it just really annoys me. And, what's easy to you might not be easy to someone else. I don't know why it bothers me so much, it just does. I just think it's rude or something. (And yes, I realize people are rude all over the Internet; that doesn't mean I can't be bothered by it.)
2) It really bugs me when someone says something really mean, derogatory, etc. but then puts the
after and it says, "It was a joke, lighten up; I used the emoticon!" That doesn't mean it wasn't an attack/a rude thing to say/outright mean. An emoticon doesn't really change what you said. I'm not saying people can't joke around, but I think by this point most of us know who our "Sugar friends" are and know who we should be joking around with and what about. Again, I understand that it's the Internet and that's how people will be, but I still think it's rude.
Anyway, I just needed to complain. I've noticed the first one SO MUCH lately. The second one, I've actually noticed less. But, there are a select few people who seem to still do it all of the time. And, those people seem to be the same ones who jump on others for making "jokes."
My-Wardrobe.com
lilkimbo - these things have been bothering me too!
1I won't do it anymore. I promise!
My pet peeve is totally anonymous comments, everything else is minor now for me.
2I agree with Sy about the totally anonymous comments - that has totally eclipsed all the other minor annoyances for me.
I am not sure if I ever said a Guess Who was "easy", but I promise, LilK - I will never ever do that from today forward! Promise!
3My Pet Peeves at the moment.
1) Popsugars obsessive love affair with Lindsay Lohan and Now Robert Pattison. Its like the staff member who runs Pop, runs it as her own personal blog about who or what she deems "pop"ular. Its not a site for all things hollywood, its a site to go see victoria beckham leaving the friggin airport, 1000 lindsay posts a day, and the Hills C*nts. And I love how she thinks the Popsugar 100 has any relevance anywhere.
2) Yumsugars complete lack of professionalism, I have seen better photos of food taken from space, In fact on food blogs I thought the norm was to make food and take pictures of it, not post recipes with stock photos and pretend you did. Also , the reviews of food products are all ones delivered to the Sugar offices and its stunning how unfoodie they are, pizza hut, dominoes, subway....NO IMAGINATION at all.
I know this site isnt the creme de la creme of sites, but its hilarious how ghetto it really is compared to whats out there.
4I hate the "easy" comments too! Especially on pop where the guess who is like a patch of hair but some how everybody knows that it is kate bosworth and "it was so easy today how could anybody not get this?" comments pop up all over the thread. Grrr...
5cg, the hills thing just blows my mind. why? why?? why???
yeah, and I just don't see what they see about this Robert kid.
6I agree about the "so easy" comments as well, although I'm sure I've been guilty of it as well.
the other one - the rude comments well I hate rude people period. Internet or otherwise doesn't matter.. show some class for goodness sake.
7lol I liked Robert Pattinson in the Harry Potter movie, but when he became popular for twilight I didn't even know who he was lol. I'm not a fan either, I don't find him attractive at all.
and The Hills lol omgosh we were on vacation last month and I was flipping through the channels on the tv in the condo and I happened upon this show that I didn't know what it was. But I was like omgosh is this a reality show made to look like a drama show? Or visa versa? I told hubby and oldest daughter that it was the worst show I'd seen in a long time and that the acting was horrible. LOL that's when I found out I was watching The Hills LOL. We don't get alot of the channels that these shows are on so I had no clue lol
8ok I think I used lol a little too much up there ^
9I don't get the Robert Pattinson thing. I just don't see it. Plus doesn't he have BO??/ Ugh. No thanks.
I would say Anon comments are my #1 pet peeve.
10It was really gross, once they tried to "set him up" with Dakota Fanning. EW Child molestation much!
11I LOVE Robert Pattison, I need more of him like I need more cowbell. Sorry, he's totally my guilty pleasure. Lindsay we can dump.
12I will forgive you ladies if you've said it was easy before, just don't do it again.
In all seriousness, though, it doesn't bug me when someone says it once in a while or says, "That was easy for me because I saw these pictures on another site," or something of that nature. I swear I notice the same people saying "easy peasy" over and over on certain sites and that's all some of them ever say.
I don't have anything against Robert Pattinson, but I guess they do feature him on Pop a lot! I don't go over there all that much, though.
And CG, I have noticed the lack of professionalism on Yum and other sites. If I see one more story about a party Fab attended, I'm going to scream.
And yeah, anonymous comments are annoying. I am convinced sometimes that it's members signing out to say something anonymously. I disagreed with a member on something silly on Pop the other day and all of a sudden there were like five or six anonymous posts agreeing with that member. Eh, whatever.
13By the way, lilkimbo, I took a quiz and made a special comment JUST for you! (emoticon AND 'EASY PEASY'
Please enjoy!
14I didn't even notice the emoticon amy!
15Clever, right?! ha
here's a link so you don't have to search too hard! (but you probably have to take the quiz in order to view the comments)
www.buzzsugar.com/3141428
16That's great.
17I'm sitting here at my desk at work grinning.
OK! New pet peeve! Just went over to Lil and saw that some total random new person won the Pottery Barn $2500 gift card.
I mean I know its a random selection of names, but it sucks that someone who is never around and probably just signed up to enter actually won. I would love it they did some giveaways based on how many points you have.... why not reward the people who actually keep this site going?
18Everytime I see a pick of Lohan or Pattision, I feel like hosing them down with soap and water. And the Hills I still don't know what the big deal about watching a bunch of immature brats.
and I stopped going to Yum and Pop sugar long ago. I couldn't stand anything that Molly had to post. The Anon comments are ridiculous annoying. When everyone else stop having anon comments on their blog, that's when the Sugar networked decided it would be a good idea.
And the pettiness and the talking down to people as if they are idiots that I've seen on some of the places just make me not want to comment. That's why I avoid the particularly popular post because I know I'm going to see it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
19Life is short. Enjoy it while you can.
OMG HAUS I saw that too and was so angry! random person, I bet its a relative or friend of a sugar person JK. They should only include people who do keep this site going, and are also pregnant, and named caterpillargirl.
20Well I mean, they dont have to give prizes to the people with the most points but they could say "ok enter if you have 10k plus points"
i think thats reasonable sometimes(not for every giveaway) and it might motivate some people to post more, take more quizzes, etc....
Oh well, all thats consoling me is that 2500 doesnt go very far at Pottery Barn...
21Haus have you looked at that persons profile page, its fishy to me. been a member for a year or so, no posts, no comments, no nothing.
22i looked but i didnt see they had been a member for a year....
hmmm....
23AND she gave a gift to herself. No friends either.
whatever total set up for an employees friend or family.
24I was looking at the Bella winners - and there's one girl who has one twice (in a matter of like a few weeks). That's not fair!
25I won some "recast" thing on here and got some Lame ass tshirt that was terribly screenprinted offcenter!! I used it to wax my car. and refused any prizes like that since. I stopped entering the Bella ones.
26HAHA! YOu used it to wax your car! Love it.
27I've never won anything....maybe I should be glad, after hearing your story, CG!!!
I see Syako won something from the Saks Spring givaway on Fab, though - that has to be good, right?? (at least I'd hope so!) Sy - was it good????
28Oooh! Syako - what did you win?!
29uh oh...I said "easy peasy" once
...once that I can remember anyway. I'm
sorry!! I hate the anonymous comments and the fascination with over-rated celebs, too.
30I won a beautiful botkier purse.
Still haven't gotten it shipped yet though...
31OMG - I was sooooo coveting that purse, Sy and was bummed I didn't win it - but now that I know YOU won it, I am really happy! Hurray! I am glad it went to an awesome, deserving person! :hurray:
Promise you will build a look around it once you get it??
32Promise!
I'm excited about it too.
33OMG thank you all for feeling my pain lmao! I do not get the Robert Pattinson twilight guy . He is gross and dirty. I just do not get it and his GF too. THANK U ,THANK U, THAAAAAANK YOOOOU!
34I hear ya on the "easy" comments lilkim! Another one that bugs me is when people cut and paste their results. Because saying you got 5/5 right doesn't convey well enough that you're a smarty pants...you have to cut and paste what your results are as proof?
You answered 4 out of 4 questions correctly.
Your score: 100%
The average score is 3.1 or 77%
Who cares?!?!
35I totally agree, sarah! I'd temporarily forgotten that people did that.
36I just saw someone do it which is what made me think about your list!
37haus, I've had the same pet peeve for a while now.
I won a Bella contest once, but it took them FOREVER to get my prize shipped to me.
38What always gets me in every little place to squaton the net--it is the "Oh yeah" "un huh" people that never actually have anything to say. I think they forgot how to get to the "chat" area where they can be vague as much as they like. The only thing worse is the silence. You write something-and nobody says anything. Silence can be painful. Maybe a little "un huh" would just piss me off more-but the peeping toms that take the time to read what you wrote and then say nothing-I'd prefer even "this is crap" than silence. Disagree--great---just say something meaninful.
PS. the only thing I ever win is sex toys. Hmmm what does that say about me?
39Robert Patterson....I am probably the only person (female) in the world that did not really like the movie that much.
40That movie sucked!
Thing is, so many of my friends know it sucked but loooove it be cause "OMG it is TWILIGHT!! And Edward is soooo dreamy!!"
41Monique, you aren't alone. I don't see the appeal of Patterson. Or Twilight. I hate Twilight... read the books and find them absolutely appalling. I hate Pop's obession with Twilight and Patterson.
42oh no i think that i'm an 'easy peasy' offender........ i shall refrain from now on i promise!!!!!!
♥
anonymous comments are definitely my pet peeve at the moment..... i know that having a screen name and picture doesn't remove the anonymity but it makes you known to the site. since the site's opened up to anonymous comments, there are a lot more nasty comments fluttering around. it really gets my goat.
as soon as there is a post about twilight or robert pattinson- it's guaranteed about 200 comments, so sugar will keep posting about him etc.
haus- re the giveaways, i had sugarrush running the other day and someone who had signed up that day had basically just commented on every giveaway going.... and then probably won't come back. so yes very annoying! perhaps you're only eligible if you've been a member for so long or are at least silver status?
43Thank you star. I guess I was thinking the movie was going to be a little more action pack vampire with a really good love story, but it was disappointing.
44lol i think i said easy to something, but it was really easy, like a picture of green fluffy pie and its great in the summer, of course key lime! even though ive never actually had it lol.
oh sy, you should contact fab if you dont get it within like 4-6 weeks. i only once won a bellasugar contest, that too being one of those be one of the first 25 commenters to win thing (never an actual giveaway so i stopped entering that). it was for the BE buxom mascara, and since it was over 2 months, i contacted bella, and like 2 days later i got the package, with an additional BE lipgloss for the delay! so i urge you contact them if its been a while. lucky you! hope you get it soon!
45oh amy it says you won the saks giveaway too! congrats! what did you get?
46Hey Pharm! I won some bracelet. I haven't gotten it yet - so thanks for the tip!
47I love playing the guess who quizzes but I don't write that -- I usually post something related to the celebrity or when I get pissed off because of that "auto-complete" feature (that makes me guess wrong when I knew who the person was) or something about the person's clothes.
But I have posted "easy" so I know I sound hypocritical when I say it's one of my pet peeves too. I avoid posting it as much as I can...but sometimes I just want to write something to refresh the page (or because I'm lazy). However I swear I've never written "easy peasy" or "easy peasy lemon squeezy" -- if I'm not wrong I think I've even seen another variation of these.
Just like everybody else here I hate the most of the anonymous posters, I also think that many are actually regulars who log off so they can post something really offensive against another regular user (someone who they usually disagree with).
Another thing I positively hate is the "multiple accounts" kind of users. Ever since Popsugar started allowing anonymous comments they've calmed down a little bit -- but I can tell you I keep seeing people who sound exactly like others (or like others that have been banned) -- they know the fact registered users have some sort of "credibility" so they like having registered people agreeing with them.
Oh, I almost forgot about the smiley thing: yes, it's annoying and very childish, like when they write something and add the ROTFL emoticon in order to downplay you or your comment -- they fail to answer with good arguments so they try to show they're "cool" and don't take you seriously.
48The ultra-long comments also irritate me so I'm aware it's ironic the fact I've just posted one of them. Sorry
49
eve you're awesome!
