While at work today I was playing my favorite Celine Dion CD her greatest hits in French and when one of my co-workers asked me who I was listening to I said Celine Dion.. and my they started ragging on me about her. I don't get it? Anyone can clue me it why so many seem to have a problem with her.

I like her!
1She is de greatest singer in de world!
I like some of her music but I think she's such a wierdo. Her mannerisms and the way she talks drives me nuts. But at the same time, she's very French Canadian and that's how a lot of them talk in my experience. So I give her kind of a pass, but I just don't like to see/hear her unless she's just singing.
2J'aime Celine Dion! Elle est tres magnifique, n'est ce pas?!
I say listen to Celine loud and proud. She is amazing and her French albums are the best! I don't think she is strange at all. And of course she talks differently...uhh, she has an accent.
3I'm with haus. And, it's not just her accent, it's the inflection that she puts on certain words. She can sing, though. When Up Close and Personal came out I listened to my Because you Loved Me tape on repeat!
4Haus.. words can not begin to express my utter hate for the way French Canadians speaks.
Jill. absolutely
5I love Celine Dion too! "Because You Loved Me" is what I danced with my Dad to at my wedding. I saw her show here in Vegas twice before she closed (wahhh), it was an amazing show.
6My favorite song of hers is S'il suffisait d'aimer. Her French songs are awesome.. her English.. not so much.
7I love Celine Dion, Saw her in concert a couple of months ago. She is an amazing singer. She proves that singers can do a concert without lip synching. She is one of the best singers out there.
8Myst thanks for backing me up! I'm always afriad I'm going to sound "racist" or something when I say that.
9I don't like celine dion...but I can't pinpoint why I dislike her. I think some of it may have to do with being in high school. I was a cheerleader and when we all rode the bus to the games this one girl would ALWAYS (seriously, ALWAYS) sing celine dion.
Also, I'm at a happy
point in my life and the songs I remember her singing back then were all slow and generally depressing unless you were going through a rough patch. So since I'm happy now, I can't listen to
someone singing about heartbreak.

10I think her voice packs a wallop, but I don't get her son's hair...

You know what? Maybe we French-Canadians have an accent and it's sometimes strong...but it's okie...we're not bad people! Why do you always hate on people that speak French? It's not really fair, because we are not actually from France, but we speak FRENCH!! AND ENGLISH! And sometimes other languages too! Canada is bilingual! French and English. Is that a crime?
12I dont like her because she bores the pants off of me, I hate the way she acts and gestures on stage while singing, her fashion sense is questionable, I dont like her attitude sometimes in interviews....the list goes on and on......
13I don't like her music, but I don't have any feelings towards her personally.
14There are many artists that I enjoy listening to but could not sit and listen to them talk for very long. Madonna is like fingernails on a chalkboard in an interview. Just because someone is musically gifted does not mean they are very great conversationalists. When Celine was on Oprah---I couldn't turn the channel fast enough when she was speaking...turned it back when she was singing.
French is a beautiful language. If America had to choose to be bilingual I am certain they'd pick Spanish and I'd rather it be anything other than Spanish. I have nothing against Spanish--just find French more pleasant to the ear.
